Some dogs won't pick a canvas dummy.

They'll retrieve a tennis ball all day. But put a canvas dummy in front of them and something changes - the shape, the texture, the feel in the mouth. They sniff it and walk off. Or they pick it once and drop it before they're back. Handlers often think the dog's being difficult. It's not. It just doesn't know what to do with it yet.

This is the bridge.

The Dummy Ball is 250g - weighted, ball-shaped, with a throw rope for distance. It looks enough like a ball to keep a reluctant dog engaged, but it's a proper training dummy. The colour is the training decision

Thirteen variants. Not thirteen versions of the same thing - thirteen different tools depending on what you're trying to train. Pick the colour that matches your training goal, not just what looks good on the shelf.

Sight - dog can see these at range

Dogs see in the blue-yellow spectrum. These colours sit within that range, which means the dog can genuinely pick them out visually against grass and ground:

• Baby Blue - clean visual contrast, good for early retrieve work where you want the dog tracking the dummy clearly
• Green - visible to the dog in open ground, useful for standard retrieves where you want a straightforward visual

Marking - high contrast, designed to be seen on the fall

These are the marker dummies. Two-tone and high-contrast patterns specifically designed to maximise visibility as the dummy moves through the air and lands. The dog picks it up visually in flight, holds the mark, and drives to the right spot. Use these when you're drilling marked retrieves and want the dog's eyes doing as much work as possible:

• Blue - strong single colour, visible and easy to mark
• Green/Orange (two-tone) - high contrast pattern, excellent fall visibility
• Black/White (two-tone) - maximum contrast, clearest mark in most light conditions

Hunting - designed for the nose, not the eyes

Dogs can't distinguish red, orange or earth tones the way we can. Against grass, leaf litter or light cover those colours disappear. The dog cannot mark them visually at range - it has to get its head down and hunt. That's the point. These are nose-work dummies. Throw one into cover and the dog has no choice but to work the scent cone until it finds it.

The bird-print variants add a layer of scent familiarity on top - the mottled pattern mimics game colouring, blending into natural ground cover the same way a real bird would sit:

• Red - hunting and nose work
• Orange - hunting and nose work
• Pheasant - hunting dummy, blends into cover, 100% nose
• Hen Pheasant - hunting dummy, earth-tone colouring, nose work

250g and the throw rope

Heavy enough at 250g to bury itself properly in grass and light cover - it doesn't sit on top the way a lighter ball would. That matters for hunting work.
