Pureflax is what we use at Kirkbourne. Every dog, from eight weeks old. Not because it's convenient - because it's the best oil we've found for working dogs, and we've tried a fair few.

Darren's not someone who gets excited about supplements. Honest answer - he's sceptical about most of them. What it actually does

Omega 3 is the one most commercial dog foods get wrong - or leave out entirely. Pureflax has 54–58% Omega 3 content. To put that in context, most fish oils sit at 30% or below. You're not supplementing here. You're filling a genuine gap.

Balanced Omega 6 alongside it. Omega 9 too. The full picture, not just one number on a label.

For working dogs specifically - joints that take a hammering in the field, recovery between sessions, coat condition through winter, immune function across a full season - this is the supplement that makes a difference you can actually see.

Why this over salmon oil?

Salmon oil is fine. It's also 30% Omega 3, often from mixed or imported sources, and it smells like it too. Pureflax is 54–58% Omega 3, plant-based, 100% traceable, and produced four hundred yards from where the crop grows. And the dogs take it without a fuss - it's highly palatable, no fighting to get it into the bowl.
