The KB Large Cock Pheasant is a Kirkbourne dummy - designed, chosen and used in our own training sessions. Not sourced from a catalogue. Not rebranded from a supplier sheet. If it's on our shelves it's because we've used it, and if we've used it, it's because it works.

A cock pheasant is the retrieve most handlers are actually training for. It's the bird your dog will face more than any other on a shoot day - big, long in the tail, awkward in the mouth, and nothing like a canvas dummy in the way it carries. The gap between a dog that's been trained on cylinders and a dog that's handled a lifelike pheasant dummy before the season starts is a gap you'll notice the moment the first bird goes down.

This dummy closes that gap.

The body is soft. Soft enough that a dog picking it up has to think about grip in a way it doesn't with a rigid moulded dummy - and thinking about grip is exactly how you build the correct carry. Soft enough that the handler can throw it cleanly and the dog can retrieve it comfortably, but realistic enough in shape and size that the transition to cold game isn't a shock.

Large cock pheasant size. Throwing toggle included. That's it. No unnecessary features - just a lifelike, soft-body pheasant that does what it's supposed to do.

One note: this is a training dummy, not a toy. Don't leave it with your dog unsupervised. The materials that make it realistic are exactly the reason it needs to stay in the training bag.
