Most cooling coats cool your dog's back. Your dog doesn't overheat from the back.
The chest. The core. That's where heat builds. That's where it needs to go. A coat that sits across the spine and calls itself a cooling product is doing about half the job - and on a warm day with a working dog, half the job isn't enough.
The Kirkbourne Cooling Coat does it differently. And it's handmade in the UK to prove it means it.
How it actually works
The coat is crafted from a soft, lightweight non-woven foam fabric - not standard material, not a repurposed blanket. Soak it, wring it out until it's damp but not dripping, slip it over your dog's head, and fasten the underbelly strap around the chest.
That underbelly strap is everything. It wraps around the core, draws heat away from the areas that matter most, and allows it to dissipate efficiently. A reinforced internal mesh layer keeps the coat strong and durable whilst actively encouraging airflow - which means evaporation, which means cooling that goes below the ambient air temperature.
Not just cool. Cooler than the air around your dog. That's the difference.
Your dog's coat stays surprisingly dry throughout. The cooling coat does its job against the skin. They don't feel damp. They feel comfortable.
Simple to use
- Soak in water
- Wring out until damp, not dripping
- Slip over your dog's head
- Fasten the underbelly strap with the hook-and-loop closure
Stays cool for several hours depending on conditions. If it starts to dry out, re-wet and it's back working immediately.
